Teaching safety and skill
We at Bold strive to offer relevant, effective training focused on helping build safer gun owners, better concealed carriers, and more confident shooters.
Safety is paramount for Bold, both in the gun handling of our staff and our students, and in our everyday lives. Whether it's at home, at work, or out with the family, we want our students to have the skills and tools they need to defend those most dear to them.
We offer a variety of programs for many levels of shooters in multiple disciplines. If you don't see a course that matches you needs reach out to us, if we don't have the solution we probably know the guy who does.
We offer this course twice a month at the Stock & Barrel Gun Club in Chanhassen, MN. This is the state mandated course to get your permit to carry for the state of Minnesota. This course is focused on the legal aspects of carrying a gun in our home state.
*This is not a “learn how to shoot” class*
Students are expected to come to class able to pass the shooting qualification.
This is a 15 minute add on to the end of the MNPTC course. This will give you the certificate needed to apply for your Florida permit to carry.
This class is for the gun owner that recently purchased their first handgun. In this class we'll cover safe gun handling, the foundational components of shooting a handgun, and the maintenance of your new handgun. Our goal as instructors for this class is to help the student see what right looks like so that they can go out and continue to build their skill on their own.
Unfortunately you can't walk into a gunstore and "test drive" the handgun you're looking at. And even if you go to a range where you can rent a selection of handguns, the bill for renting more than one or two racks up quickly, it's unlikely you'll have someone in the lane with you willing to answer the questions you have, and at best you might get some okay pointers on how to shoot from the range officer watching the line.
We have a better solution. For intro to handgun all you need to do is show up. We'll bring the equipment, the targets, the ammo, and a variety of popular handguns so that you can try them out and build some experience so that you can make an educated purchase for yourself. We'll cover safe gun handling, proper shooting technique, and the various attributes to consider when choosing a handgun.
The AR-15 is one of the most common types of rifles in America, and for good reason. It has low recoil, good capacity, excellent ergonomics. This class is designed to give the student the core components of using and shooting an AR. Skills such as zeroing distance and procedures, administrative handling, effective shooting positions, presentation, etc. This class offers two functions. First- If you are looking to get an introduction to the AR we can provide rifles, PPE, and targets. Ammo can either be provided by the student or purchased from Bold. 150-200 rounds recommended. Second- If you recently purchased your own AR we can help you build the skills needed to confidently use the tool. Bold can provide PPE and targets. Ammunition is available for purchase.
If you just got your Minnesota permit to carry you may have found that the class was legally informative, but didn't offer much, if any, in the way of gear selection or actual employment of the handgun. This class is designed as a companion course to your permit to carry class. We'll go over carry positions, gear selection, support equipment, mindset, drawing from the holster, rapid fire, sight management, and more. Gear Requirements: Serviceable handgun, pistol or revolver is acceptable, 150 Rounds of factory ammunition A quality holster from a reputable manufacturer* We do have a limited selection of holsters for common firearms if you do not yet have a good holster. If you do not have a firearm to carry yet contact us and we'll see if we can arrange something. *Holster must be of quality design. NO nylon or SERPA holsters, period
Shooting clay pigeons is sort of like golf, but better. This class will cover the mechanics of your shotgun, tracking your target, and maintaining your shotgun. This class can be run with your gun or with one of the loaners we have available, both in 12ga and 20ga. We also can provide hearing and eye protection. The MN Horse and Hunt club does have ammunition available for purchase on site.
For more than two decades it has been common practice to put a red dot optic on a rifle. They're fast, intuitive, offer a superior sight picture to iron sights, and work in more conditions. The leap to putting a micro red dot sight(MRDS) on a handgun though can be more daunting for many. It's a different learning curve, requires the introduction to some particular concepts, and can be rather costly. This class is designed to give you a proper foundation to start taking full advantage of the technological wonder that is the MRDS.
The class covers grip particulars, sight picture, sight management, equipment selection, and any other speed bumps you may have encountered with the handgun red dot.
If you're just looking to break into the red dot game and don't know the particulars yet we do have guns to loan to students. If you already have the equipment feel free to bring it to class and we can help straighten everything out.
We're here to help you with any firearms training that we can. If you don't see a class that fits your needs message us for a customized solution.
